Who We Are

"The purpose of this organization shall be to promote literacy at the school; To enrich the total resources and facilities of the Joyce Etulain Library; And to enhance a love of reading in the GO'K students."

 

The Georgia O'Keeffe FOL is a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service tax-exempt corporation.

Accomplishments

 

With the support of our library volunteers and Friends of the Library Association we have accomplished great things at the Joyce Etulain Library in 2013-2014. Take a look at what we have done this past school year.

 

  • 54,725 books and materials checked out and shelved since August!

  • FOL membership drive $ 3665 raised.

  • Updated questions for book clubs and organized student records.

  • 1337 book club awards including 90 Hall of Fame awards and 10 RAM Reader awards since August. Thanks testers!

  • Updated Hall of Fame Records

  • Weekly Read and Feed Program for Kinder-3rd grade

  • Organized 45 shift volunteers

  • Made 600 library cards

  • Spooky Story/Illustration Contest for 2nd -5th graders. 25 Books published for winners and library (Paid for by FOL funds)

  • Spooky Story Night with Student Generated Stories Performed by Actors and Musicians (attendance of over 500 people!) (Paid for by FOL)

  • Fall Book Fair – profit $3611

  • Author/Illustrator Presentation Jennifer Nielsen for fourth & fifth graders. (paid for by FOL).

  • Author Peter Lerangis for 3rd Grade (sponsored by Bookworks Book Store)

  • Dr. Seuss/ Read Across America Day and Evening Event (attendance over 600 people)

  • Fourth and fifth grade classroom Battle of the Books in April.

  • 1806 Battle of the Books forms read and recorded.

  • Battle of the Books celebration luncheon for 4th and 5th graders (paid for by FOL funds).

  • Battle of the Books Trophies and Dog Tags for winning teams (paid for by FOL funds).

  • Spring Book Fair- profit $3238

  • Poetry Alive (paid for my FOL funds)

  • Books repaired, covered, cleaned

  • $7446 of audio/video/ebooks materials purchased (paid for by FOL funds).

  • $2500 in books purchased (paid for by FOL funds).

  • CD/AV cabinet purchased (paid for by FOL funds).
