Read-A-Thon News From Mrs. Huggins and The GOK FOL

Dear O'Keeffe Families,

The results for the Read-A-Thon fundraiser this year is astounding! We surpassed our goals by over $10,000 and broke our record for the previous years. We are so thankful to you, your families, and your friends who supported the library with your donations. After service fees, our library will receive $24,254!

In addition, our BIBLIOMANIACS read 175,198 minutes over a 9 day period! That works out as 2920 hours or 121.6 days of reading.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for your support of the library and your encouragement for all of the reading that happened in (and around) your homes.

Big Thanks for all you raised and read! You raised 24,254 and read 175,198 minutes

School Gardens Project Day - Come one come all!

Our school is building a monarch butterfly garden in the area behind the kindergarten wing and we need strong bodies to help us move the soil.

If you are available on Sunday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m., bring your shovels, wheelbarrows and rakes and we'll move 10 yards of soil in a jiffy! Make it a family event and bring your students along to help out.

We will also be making improvements to our current garden beds in the courtyard and adding soil to those areas as well.

If you you are able to help or have any questions, please email Mrs. Huggins at huggins_a@aps.edu.

Thanks to Mrs. Grainger for heading up this project!!!

From The GOK FOL

Parents of 5th graders,

Before your student moves on to middle school, there is one more chance to leave a legacy of love at GOK by joining the Friends of the Library! For a $100 donation, the FOL Pulitzer membership allows you to dedicate a brick that goes in the brick pathway outside of the cafeteria. You choose what to inscribe on the brick! (Length restrictive) This will give your family a wonderful, permanent memory at GOK.

Are you already a FOL member? You can upgrade your membership to FOL Pulitzer status to have a brick dedicated to your student. Fairytale membership upgrade is $90, Alumni membership upgrade is $80, and Classics membership upgrade is $75 . If you're not sure of your current FOL membership status, please email Rebecca Struve at rebeccaspendlove@gmail.com(Note: if you joined as a Pulitzer Member earlier in the school year, confirmation of your brick order will be emailed to you soon).

For those interested in a Legacy brick, please fill out and submit this 5th Grade Legacy Brick Donation Form.  The deadline is Sunday, March 26th!

Then, pay your membership donation through our GOK FOL PayPal Account.   Or you can send in your donation check (payable to GOK FOL) to the school in care of FOL. Payment must be received by Monday, March 27th.

If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca Struve at rebeccaspendlove@gmail.com.
