Free Ebooks for elementary:

Our generous vendors have given APS thousands of free multi-use Ebooks in English and Spanish until summer. Multi-use means that several students can have these Ebooks open at the same time, and they are great for the distance classroom!

School Closure Updates

Principal Owen Updates

September 12, 2020

Greetings GOK Families,

Another week in the books.  Ms. Montoya and I have begun to join classrooms for a quick check in.  We are very impressed with what we are seeing.  I am amazed with how quickly kindergartners have picked up the mute and unmute procedure.  I have also seen how students are engaging with their teacher and peers during remote learning.  We are seeing great things!

Grading:

Attached are the Standards Based Report Cards (SBPR) for each grade.  This information is provided so you are aware what students in each grade are expected to master by the end of the school year.  During remote learning, teachers are focusing on essential standards.

First Grade

Second Grade

Third Grade

Fourth Grade

Fifth Grade

Schedule:

Changes to the schedule will begin on September 14th.  Your teacher will share meet codes and additional schedule changes.  You can find these updates on our GOK Remote Learning Site.

Ram Time:

By eliminating one special time each day, students now have an open block of time amounting to 45 minutes.  This time may be used by teachers for small group, intervention, office hours, independent work time, or additional supports fro gifted or special education teachers.  Schedules may vary by teacher for RAM Time.

APS EdTech Training:

The APS EdTech department will host a live stream for parents on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. We will provide a brief overview of Chromebooks, iPads, Classroom, Gmail, Seesaw and resources on the EdTech site.

September Dine Out Night:

Our Dine Out fundraising event for September is Chipotle!  Grab some dinner on Wednesday, September 16th from 4-8 pm at Chipotle (Paseo and San Pedro). Make sure you mention GOK or place an online order and use the code CCN2PAW so that GOK PTA receives 33% of your order total.  We know things are different, but we appreciate all of your support during this time.

Have a great week!
